As the title suggests, I would like to ask the experts: is it common to install flow meters behind control valves in practice? Please help!
It is generally installed in front of the control valve to prevent the control valve from affecting the flow pattern; if it is to be installed behind the control valve, there must be sufficient straight pipe section.
It can be placed after the control valve, but the installation of the flow meter must comply with the relevant requirements.
When determining the relationship between the flow meter’s installation location and the control valve, the basic principle is to place it on the side where the control valve operates stably, regardless of whether it is before or after the valve. However, in actual process pipelines, the conditions are more stable before the control valve, though stability can also be observed after the valve.
