Three electric reciprocating pumps are connected in parallel, with an outlet pressure of 18 MPa. When two pumps are in operation, an abnormal noise (pulsating in nature) is heard at the inlet accumulator while the middle reciprocating pump is running. After stopping the pump, the outlet valve was closed; there was still abnormal noise at the inlet accumulator. The noise disappeared after closing the inlet valve. When the inlet valve was opened, abnormal noises occurred; when it was closed, the noises disappeared. During operation, everything is normal except for abnormal noises. Check the accumulator; the pressure is normal. Find the reason.
There is a air bag inside the accumulator, which produces a sound when it is started. It’s similar to air leaking from a pipe, accompanied by a clicking sound; it’s normal. If there’s no sound, pressure cannot be applied.
I’ve never encountered this situation. If what the original poster said is true, the airbag might be leaking. Airbags are generally pressure buffers, with a medium on one side and gas on the other. If there is a slight leak, there will be noise, but in terms of pressure, it does not cause such a significant pressure drop. Additionally, it is necessary to check whether the nitrogen pressure in the accumulator is within a reasonable range.
