At the current stage, the circulating ammonia water from our cold drum section is sent through an air flotation oil removal unit for further oil removal before entering the residual ammonia tank. However, the mechanical seals of the jet pumps used in this unit need to be replaced frequently. Therefore, we are considering connecting process air to the outlet of the jet pumps as a substitute for those pumps, but we’re not sure about the results. Have anyone made such a change? Could you please let us know? Thank you! Our process air pressure is 0.6 MPa. Principle of air flotation: At the bottom of the air flotation oil removal unit, there is an air flotation jet pump. This pump uses jet technology to introduce air into the ammonia water system, creating a mixture of air and water. This mixed liquid then passes through a degassing tank before entering four air dispersion regulators, from where it returns to the bottom of the air flotation oil removal unit via the release nozzles. The bubbles produced by these nozzles are of very small size, allowing them to adhere to the tar. Due to their low density and low temperature, these bubbles gradually expand as they are heated by the ammonia water and rise to the surface. After coming to the surface, the bubbles burst, and the oil droplets also break apart to form an oil film, which then flows back into the mechanical ammonia clarification tank; this achieves the purpose of separating tar from the remaining ammonia solution.
It can be modified, but the effect is poor; the oil removal efficiency is very low
