What is the calculation formula for differential pressure flow meters? Given the density of the fluid and other relevant data, how can one determine what range of differential pressure transmitter is required?

There are only simple formulas for calculating flow rate; is there a formula for calculating the differential pressure range of orifice plates?
Is differential pressure flow rate calculated by taking the square root of the differential pressure? Such data isn’t very accurate. Based on the pipe size, flow rate, pressure, density, and so on, it’s possible to calculate what the required differential pressure is.
