Dear all, Shaanxi Gas Turbine has invited us to attend and witness the mechanical operation tests of three centrifugal compressors; Since I had only been involved in the on-site mechanical operation tests of centrifugal pumps before ; So I would like to ask what aspects need to be taken into consideration when going to Shaanxi Gas Turbine this time to observe the mechanical operation of the compressors, and which ones require special attention ; Is it similar to the mechanical operation test of pumps? Does a dry gas seal come as part of the setup when a centrifugal compressor is operated mechanically, or is no such seal provided? ; Is the same motor used as one found on site? Since two of the centrifuges are equipped with frequency converters, it’s unlikely that Shaanxi Blower will provide motors with corresponding frequency conversion capabilities and power levels. Are there any requirements in this regard? ; When the machine is in operation, which data can be measured? In other words, which data correspond to those allowed under the actual operating conditions on site? This is something that requires special attention ; What other data are there that differ between mechanical operation and actual on-site operation? ; Can mechanical operation simulate different working conditions? The medium used in mechanical operation is also different from that in actual operational settings – are there any requirements regarding this? ; Dry gas seal, motor, frequency conversion, operating conditions, medium, monitoring data ; Thank you! ! !
Manufacturers usually conduct vacuum testing; you should check whether their mechanical properties meet the design requirements. Whether the gearbox meets the design requirements. During installation, the manufacturer sends technical personnel to provide guidance.
Centrifugal compressors are equipped with dry gas seals for their mechanical operation. They should also be fitted with variable frequency drives as well as motors of appropriate power. The oil system, shaft system, cooling water system, instrumentation system, and electrical system all need to be checked.

The specific operating conditions are not specified; it mainly involves conducting actual test runs and inspections in accordance with the standard requirements. In my opinion, centrifugal compressors are mainly inspected with regard to the following aspects based on design requirements or technical specifications: their operating conditions at the working pressure, temperature rise and displacement monitoring protection systems for each bearing, as well as the temperature at the outlet (is it necessary to equip additional dry cooling equipment?) ) ; Can parameters such as temperature and pressure of the hydraulic station meet the requirements for using the centrifugal compressor? Next, it is necessary to check whether the self-control functions, the number of data points uploaded, and the communication protocol meet the overall design requirements of the project. Additional note: The sealing of the machine needs to be carefully checked (including the water seals or dry gas seals at the moving parts, as well as the airtightness of the machine casing)
Machine testing generally includes: the mechanical condition of the equipment, its performance and control capabilities. The mechanical condition involves vibration, temperature and temperature rise, shaft displacement, and noise; Performance includes surge, power, efficiency, pressure, flow rate, etc., primarily in accordance with the requirements of relevant standards, specifications, and technical agreements.
During the trial run, the focus is on the mechanical operating performance of the equipment. It is impossible to achieve normal operating conditions during tests conducted by the manufacturer; instead, it is important to check whether mechanical parameters such as vibration levels, displacement, and noise meet the national standards
It should be a machine that has been tuned, and they’re asking you to go and take a look at it. P I think it’s better to listen to the sound – good machines have a pleasant operating sound that isn’t too loud
First, prepare a table of the various parameters for this model of machine to check whether it meets the design requirements. Get the parameters of similar foreign machines as well, to see the gap between domestic and foreign ones~~
Pay special attention to: vibration, shaft displacement, temperature of each bearing, and the presence of leaks around the perimeter. After the test run, disassemble the machine to check the wear condition of components such as the rotor, bearing shells, and gas seals.
The first thing the poster should check is your order, that is, your purchase contract. This is the most crucial document for you to use when going to the factory for inspection; all activities should be carried out based on this document. Generally, the items to be inspected, the inspection standards, etc., are all specified in detail in the data sheet of the technical annex to the purchase contract. Based on this data sheet, and by referring to the relevant standards mentioned in it, it will be clear what specific items need to be checked and what the acceptance criteria are.
Hello, is it usually a vacuum test run? Could you be more specific? Or could you tell me the entire mechanical testing process? Thank you!
