Cavitation: In centrifugal pumps, cavitation occurs when the inlet temperature of the pump is higher than the saturation temperature at that pressure; in other words, the liquid vaporizes under these conditions, resulting in the formation of gas inside the pump. Phenomena: Current fluctuations, voltage drop, and severe vibration at the site. Solution: Reduce the inlet temperature or increase the inlet pressure of the pump.

This is too simple and too general. For example: 1. Does cavitation occur only at the inlet? Of course not. Cavitation can occur at any location within the pump’s flow channel ; 2. Is cavitation simply the occurrence of vaporization? Not really; it’s the effects of the bursting of bubbles that are fatal ; 3. Cavitation also presents the issue of noise.
Cavitation is primarily caused by low inlet pressure in the pump; when the inlet pressure is lower than the saturated vapor pressure of the fluid, bubbles are formed. These bubbles move with the fluid to the outlet, and as the pressure increases, the bubbles burst, resulting in hydraulic shock.
