Terminology explanations in plastic processing: One-shot molding: A method of shaping plastics into various forms by heating them to a viscous flow state, allowing them to flow, be shaped, and then cooled to harden or cross-link. Injection cycle: The time required to complete one injection molding process is called the injection cycle or total cycle. It consists of injection time, holding time, cooling and feeding time, as well as mold opening time, auxiliary operations time, and mold closing time. Melt index: It is expressed in g/10min as the weight of the melt of a thermoplastic that passes through a standard capillary within 10 minutes under certain temperature and pressure conditions. Plasticization: refers to the entire process in which plastic is heated inside the barrel to reach a flowable state and acquire good plasticity. Polymer processing: It is an engineering technique for converting polymers into useful materials or products. One-shot molding: This method involves heating plastic to a viscous flow state, and then using flow, shaping, and cooling/setting (or cross-linking) to transform the plastic into products of various shapes. Extrusion molding: This is a molding method in which the heated and melted plastic is forced through a die under pressure, thanks to the action of screws or plungers, to produce continuous profiles with a constant cross-section.
What determines the general duration of an injection cycle?
I think this depends on the actual product being injected; the size of the mold and the properties of the material used determine the length of the injection cycle. The injection cycle will also vary depending on the product, right?
