At around 5 a.m. on December 6, a fire broke out at the Xingnong Chemical Factory in Huinong District, Shizuishan City, Ningxia, due to the rupture of a heat transfer oil pipe. Upon receiving the call, the local fire department promptly sent 2 vehicles with 14 firefighters to the scene to extinguish the fire, and no injuries were reported. Upon investigation at the scene, the firefighters found that the chemical plant produced acidic dye additives; the fire was caused by oil leakage from a heat transfer oil pipeline located next to a boiler in the plant. There was a boiler along with numerous pipelines at a distance of 2 meters from the fire site, and the area around the boiler was already on fire. If the fire was not controlled promptly, there was a risk of it spreading further. The firefighters immediately used foam guns to suppress the fire from both sides, used water guns to cool the pipelines and surrounding equipment near the fire site as well as to provide cover for the firefighters fighting the fire ahead; they also carried out safety monitoring and security patrols at the scene, while requesting the plant’s technical staff to close the oil transfer valves. After 10 minutes, the external open flame was extinguished. The firefighters then used scrapers to demolish the hot pot furnace room in order to carry out firefighting and cooling operations inside the boiler room, as well as to further cool the pipelines near the site of the fire and the devices surrounding the boiler. After 30 minutes of intense rescue efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control; no larger disasters occurred, nor were any casualties reported.
