I would like to ask: How is the desorption gas produced in the methanol-to-hydrogen process typically handled? Can it be used as fuel gas in a heat transfer oil furnace that normally uses natural gas, or should the desorption gas be vented directly or burned in a flare?
Our scale is not very large; it’s a hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 700. Can the CO and methane emitted during gas release meet the environmental regulations?

It depends on the scale of your installation~~ If it’s below 1000, and there is a heat transfer oil system available, then heat can be generated by burning heat transfer oil in a furnace; There is no heat-conduction system available; flaring is an option, but direct emission is likely not feasible given that the exhaust gas contains 35% hydrogen and comes from a facility with a capacity of over 1000. Considerating the production of by-products in the form of food products or chemical-grade carbon dioxide could help reduce the overall production costs~~

A buffer tank is needed. What level have you determined for the hydrogen content in the gas?
With a hydrogen content of around 30%, it has a low calorific value and a high CO2 content; will this affect the thermal efficiency in a heat transfer oil system?
It will increase the load on the furnace without much increase in heat; your hydrogen content is too high – aren’t you making any adjustments?
