I would like to ask fellow sailors: for our MDEA solvent regeneration tower, we have chosen to feed the material at the 1st and 3rd tray levels. I wonder why we choose these levels instead of the 1st and 2nd trays, or the 2nd and 4th trays, etc.? Thank you all for your help and answers!
Don’t you have acid reflux? When referring to the feed of an amine liquid regeneration tower, it means the amine liquid itself.
There is backflow; what I’m referring to is the amine liquid feed.
Is the third layer the reboiler at the bottom of the tower? Then where is your reboiler at the bottom of the tower?
The normal feeding location for the amine solution is at the third or fourth layer, as it is primarily necessary to ensure that the temperature and composition of the fed amine solution are similar to those of the material in that layer.
By the first and third layers of feeding that I mentioned, I mean the first and third layers counted from the top of the tower. The inlet of the bottom reboiler is at the bottom of the tower, and its outlet is on the lowest tray.

A section needs to be reserved above for distillation, namely to vaporize the H2S from the reflux liquid
This is usually determined by the designer based on the calculation results. The calculation sheet can determine the temperature and composition of each tray.
Our regeneration tower has a total of 28 trays; the amine solution is fed at tray #24, with the temperature of the amine solution entering the tower being over 90 degrees. Trays #25–#28 constitute the distillation section.
