Recently, during operational monitoring, it was observed that the pressure difference in the chlorine-treated menomycin acid fog collector is on the rise. Apart from the increase caused by rising temperatures, the pressure is much higher compared to when it was first put into use. What should be taken into account when considering the disassembly and inspection of this equipment? What should be done to clean a clogged filter element?
Precautions: 1. Prevent chlorine gas poisoning. 2. Protect against sulfuric acid burns. 3. Prevent the filter element from being damaged due to collision with the tank walls. 4. The filter element must be placed flat when cleaned and dried. Cleaning: Place the filter element in a 0.5% sodium bicarbonate solution and clean it until it reaches a neutral pH. Then wash it with 90-degree hot water and a small amount of bubble-free detergent. The filter element must be completely dry before installation and use.

The filter element is clogged; to clean it, it can be removed and inspected visually for any solid particles on its surface, after which it can be partially cut open to check whether the fibers inside are clean.
During maintenance, it was taken apart for inspection; the gasket at the top of the filter element was slightly misaligned, and this has been corrected. The cause of the increased pressure has been identified as deformation of the diaphragm in the top pressure transmitter.
It can be cleaned by backwashing with low-pressure compressed air, which is somewhat effective.
We learned about it; we’ve been using it for several years without ever checking it. It can serve as a reference if maintenance is needed in the future
