For vortex flowmeters used to measure gases, what will be the flow display if they are used in liquid pipelines? Has anyone tried this?
I’m facing a tricky problem right now: during normal operation of the vortex flow meter used for measuring process steam, it suddenly shows a much lower value, which leads to production issues. I suspect that water is present in the steam pipeline, causing the flow meter to display such a low value. Could this indeed be the cause? I would appreciate it if experts could share their insights and suggestions
If there is water in the steam, it will cause fluctuations in the measurement values; they won’t keep decreasing, in my opinion. I’m not sure how this changes – is it a small value that remains low for a long time after it becomes smaller?
It seems that in the owner’s case, steam is carrying water with it; is it possible to drain the condensate? If the instruments function normally after that, then there’s no problem. We have encountered similar situations before.
It doesn’t remain small all the time; this condition lasts for about 3 to 4 minutes. Afterwards, the DCS adjusts the control valve to gradually open it until it is fully open, at which point the flow rate returns to its maximum value. Then, the system experiences overpressure
We are planning to add a steam trap now, but we’re not sure if it’s due to water passing through the flow meter; please discuss this

What LZ meant is not the transformation of gas into liquid, but the presence of liquid. First, the measurement is already inaccurate; second, whether it can be used is a question in itself.
Add a steam trap in front of the flow meter. This problem occurs when using vortex flowmeters to measure steam: superheated steam becomes saturated steam as it enters the chamber, resulting in a gas-liquid mixture that leads to inaccurate measurements.
