Pseudoplastic fluids: The apparent viscosity of such fluids decreases as the shear stress increases, which is known as the thixotropic effect. 2. Expansive fluids: The apparent viscosity of such fluids increases as shear stress increases, which is known as shear-thickening behavior. 3. Orientation: The structural units of the polymer or the fibrous fillers arrange themselves in a parallel manner along the direction of flow to some extent; this arrangement is known as orientation, or alignment. 4. Degradation: Polymers experience a decrease in molecular weight and changes in their macromolecular structure as a result of the effects of heat, stress, oxygen, acids, bases, and impurities. 5. Kneading: refers to the immersion and mixing of a liquid with powdered or fibrous solid materials. 6. Viscoelastic hysteresis effect: refers to the phenomenon in which, under the action of an external force, the deformation of polymer molecular chains lags behind the speed of the applied force, as the chains are unable to keep up with that speed.
