The company has a heat exchanger that was originally used to heat water at a high temperature of around 120°C. However, due to increased load, this heating was insufficient; therefore, the 10 kg of steam supplied after the control valve was slightly opened. After introducing steam, the amount of condensed water decreased, so the valve setting was increased. Yet, the heating effect remained inadequate. The company continued to increase the amount of steam used to deal with the condensed water, but the results were still poor. Does anyone with experience have any advice on what to do? Thank you!
If there is sufficient amount of water condensation at high temperatures, the heat exchanger area can be increased, or an additional heat exchanger can be added in series.

It is almost certain that there was an issue with the equipment’s design from the start; undoubtedly, the heat exchange area was insufficient. This phenomenon is quite common, especially in small factories in regions such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong; in many cases, the operating conditions are determined arbitrarily without any proper design, and at best, the heat exchange area is calculated based on the load. The only solution is to replace it; if other parameters such as pressure drop are still within acceptable limits, using the series connection mentioned on the second floor is also an option.
