Is the plane using kerosene for safety reasons?
Kerosene combines the high calorific value of diesel with the light weight of gasoline. Moreover, aviation fuel has extremely strict requirements regarding water content; in addition to the aforementioned requirements, aviation fuel also needs to have a low freezing point, as well as very strict limits on ash content and oxidizing properties.

There are two types of fuel used in aircraft: aviation gasoline for spark-ignition piston engines, and jet fuel (commonly known as aviation kerosene) for gas turbine engines. So the standard term for that “kerosene” is “jet fuel”. There are both military and civilian applications; it depends mainly on the cost of use and specific technical requirements. Some small training aircraft still use gasoline, although the octane rating of this gasoline is slightly higher. Before jet engines appeared, airplanes already used gasoline.
