Is it necessary to install a pulsation suppressor at the inlet of a reciprocating pump? What is the reason?
The flow rate and pressure at the inlet are low, so it’s rare to find such installations; they are more common at the outlet. If it’s really necessary to control the pulses, then install a buffer tank or something similar.
Today’s equipment is designed with greater precision; for the purposes of reducing vibration and ensuring pipeline reliability, it is being used more and more often, and the results are quite noticeable
Buffer tanks (accumulators) need to be installed at both the inlet and outlet to mitigate pulses and also prevent the pressure gauge from vibrating
Pulse dampers need to be installed on pipes for import and export; it is possible to omit them, but in that case the pipes will experience certain vibrations and the readings on the pressure gauge will fluctuate significantly.
