The explosion protection rating of the motor associated with the hydrogen compressor used for hydrogen treatment in our plant is BⅡBT4, while the requirements specified in the standards are BⅡCT4. Is it possible to have the motor manufacturer make modifications?
The explosion-proof structure of the motor is determined during its design and manufacturing; modifying it would affect the original explosion-proof structure, which is not allowed. Hydrogen belongs to the IIB+ H2 or IIC category of components; choosing the IIB category constitutes a violation of safety regulations. Replacing the electrodes with those that meet explosion-proof requirements is the correct approach.
