Guys, the pH value of our electro-deionized water has been around 3.5 recently. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this? How to solve it?
So low? What is the pH of the water being injected? Is the salt content very high?
The pH value of the water used for injection is around 7.5; what’s it at your place? The salt content is not high, around 30 I think. The amount of water we use is relatively low, about 2.5%, but after desalination it’s below 5
Oh, it seems normal when looking at it; the water we use for injection is stripped and purified water, with a pH level of around 7-9. The cutwater also has a pH of 7-9, which is quite normal. In oils with high acidity, high sulfur content, or high salt levels, we’ve never observed a very low pH value. Could it be that the laboratory tests are incorrect? Anyway, there are often issues with the tests we conduct here.
The test results should be fine; is it possible that a high electric field strength causes the electrolysis of water to produce acid?
In a strong electric field, it is mainly oil with very little water, so the possibility of water breaking down is likely low
Check if it’s a problem with the testing equipment; this value is way too low – it’s almost at the level of strong acids!
The pH value of the cut water is low; find the cause – under no circumstances add alkali. For a period of time, in order to reduce corrosion in subsequent processing units when refining high-acid crude oil at our plant, the workshop adopted the method of adding alkali; eventually, tests showed that the salt content was more than 1000% above the limit
Use a pH test strip to measure the value and see if it’s an analysis error. What is the sulfur content of the crude oil, and what is its acid value?
