The sulfur content in the feed oil for catalytic cracking units exceeds 3%; do anyone have any suggestions to enable production to continue?
No preprocessing? Yours is way too high too! Sulfur is more harmful than beneficial to equipment, products, and yield, especially when it comes into contact with water. Therefore, it is not recommended to use it directly as a catalyst material!
If the crude oil can be pre-treated, there’s no need to worry.
When the sulfur content in the crude oil exceeds 3%, it causes severe corrosion to the equipment. At present, our crude oil is only desalted, and sulfur removal from the oil is achieved only through hydrogenation.
