For example, C32 indicates a tripping current of 32 amps. The rated current In of a circuit breaker refers to the current that the trip device can carry over an extended period of time; in other words, it is the rated current of the trip device. For circuit breakers with adjustable trip devices, it is the maximum current that the trip device can sustain over a long period of time. The circuit breaker frame rating current Inm is expressed as the rated current of the maximum release device installed in a frame or plastic enclosure with identical basic geometric dimensions and similar structure. The rated current In of a release refers to the maximum current that it can carry over an extended period of time. The setting value of the operating current Ir for long-time delay overload release devices is as follows: for fixed-type releases, Ir = In; for adjustable-type releases, Ir is a multiple of the release’s rated current In, e.g., Ir = 0.4 to 1×In. The setting value Im for the operating current of the short-time delay electromagnetic release is a multiple of the setting value Ir for the operating current of the overload release; this multiple can be fixed or adjustable, for example, Im = 2–10×Ir. For non-adjustable types, an appropriate setting value can be selected from among them. The rated operating current Im′ of the instantaneous electromagnetic release is a multiple of the release’s rated current In; this multiple can be fixed or adjustable, for example, Im′=1.5~11×In. For non-adjustable types, an appropriate setting value can be selected from among them.
