What is the difference between cold standby and idle mode? What factors affect the startup time? Which option should be chosen to protect the pump?
Cold standby and idle operation are two different concepts. Cold standby applies to things such as turbines and high-temperature pumps; as the name implies, it refers to being in a cold state of readiness, and the equipment needs to be warmed up before it can be started; Idle rotation means that the rotor comes to a complete stop after the motor loses power or the turbine loses steam supply!
As for process flow pumps, which serve as backup pumps, it is required that they can be started within a certain time frame. I would like to know what the conditions are during cold standby and idle operation, what constraints exist on the startup time in these two situations, and what effects such prolonged operation in these conditions has on the pumps
In my opinion, cold standby is one of the two forms in which a device is in a standby state; that is, the device is in standby mode, but it requires some time to get started (such as opening inlet valves, starting the heat pump, supplying power, etc.). In contrast, hot standby means that the device can operate as soon as the start button is pressed. Idling means that even when the power supply is cut off, residual energy is converted into mechanical energy, allowing it to continue rotating. Idling has a certain time limit; staying in this state for too long can cause significant harm.
