Kaifeng Air Separation Group Co., Ltd. was the first to achieve the domestic production of the first batch of CO-H2 cryogenic separation units

Thread Content

On August 1, 2015, Kaifeng Air Separation Group Co., Ltd. started up and commissioned the CO-H2 cryogenic separation unit designed to support the production of 220,000 tons of ethylene glycol at Yangmei Shenzhou. On August 2, 2015, qualified products such as CO and hydrogen-rich gas were produced, with all product qualities meeting or exceeding the design specifications. This unit includes a molecular sieve pre-purification system, a CO-H2 separation cryogenic tank, a CO compressor, etc.; it requires that the purity of the CO product be greater than 98.5% and the hydrogen content be less than 100 ppm. It is the first domestically produced CO-H2 cryogenic separation unit to be successfully put into operation in China to date. CO-H2 cryogenic separation units have long represented a gap in China’s low-temperature industry; the market for such units in China has been dominated by foreign manufacturers for a long time, forcing users to bear high economic costs as a result. The CO-H2 cryogenic separation unit, independently developed by Kaifeng Air Separation Group Co., Ltd., has been successfully put into operation, filling a gap in China’s industry and indicating that the country’s low-temperature sector now has the full capability to design and manufacture CO-H2 cryogenic separation units on its own.

Support domestic products; KaiKong was the first to break through

Our plant is equipped with CO cryogenic separation units to supply CO products for downstream acetic acid production. Including molecular sieves, cold boxes, and CO compressors. Among them, the molecular sieve and the entire cold box are provided by Linde. CO compressors are not available for Hard. We support domestic products; we hope to get in touch with their operators to discuss operational issues together.

It can be done in Kaifeng as well. What is the load? Is the compressor also domestic? Low-temperature or room temperature for feeding into the molecular sieve?

We deal with cryogenic technologies from Air Liquide; could you send us the drawings related to opening the equipment so we can discuss them? My email is hujiwei888@126.com

What is the energy consumption of CO separation using the low-temperature method? Is decompression needed? Why not use PSA? Send H2 out at the top and draw CO out at the bottom? What are the advantages of PSA compared to others? Do you have ProII simulations available? I’d like to compare energy consumption and investment costs with PSA. Thank you!
