I wish to take the 2015 Pressure Vessel Design Approver Examination; my company requires a Category C qualification. According to the examination guidelines, for Category C vessels, the relevant drawings must be provided by the applicant themselves. Does anyone who has taken this exam have any advice? 1. What is the process for presenting the drawings during the defense? I heard that for categories A and D, drawings are drawn randomly, while there’s not much discussion about category C on forums. 2. Are there any things to keep in mind when using pre-existing drawings? There are two more questions: 3. During the examination and defense for those responsible for approving the design of pressure vessels, is it allowed to use textbooks for reference while reviewing the drawings? 4. During the exam defense for pressure vessel design approvers, is it allowed to consult textbooks when the examiner asks questions?

During the defense, you hardly have time to look at books, and they don’t ask questions based on rote memorization. Relying solely on books isn’t enough, as you can’t find the answers to the questions quickly enough

When presenting for the Class A design review certificate, you can bring relevant materials, but whether you’ll have the opportunity to consult them depends on the instructor.
