4T steam boiler, fueled by biogas (55% CH4), equipped with a dn80 valve set; in actual operation, when the inlet water temperature is above 80 degrees, the output is only 1.2 tons. At this time, more than 500 cubic meters of fuel gas are supplied – please provide an analysis. The boiler body uses a natural gas burner directly. The burner has been enlarged from the original DN65 size to 80; the biogas fuel meets the design requirements.
Biogas is claimed to have a calorific value of 4000 Kcal/m3, but in reality it is around 2000. Based on actual calculations, with an efficiency of 88% for steam boilers, 500 cubic meters of biogas can produce only 1.6 tons of steam.
May I ask, is the calorific value calculated based on the CH4 content? Why is it only half?
Industrial biogas needs to be purified and pressurized, which involves high costs and operating expenses. After purification and pressurization, the calorific value can reach 4000 Kcal/㎥. Unpurified biogas has a calorific value of 2000 Kcal/㎥.
To what extent should it be purified? CH4 content.
Has the fuel consumption always been high? Did it suddenly go up recently? Could it be that the combustion air distribution is poor?
What was said upstairs is correct; insufficient power generation is often due to a low calorific value of the fuel. Fuels with a low calorific value have a low specific heat capacity, which means they are not capable of producing enough steam.
