Our facility has a methanol production project; for some reason, red algae have appeared in the circulating water. The fungicides used, namely trichloroisocyanuric acid and thiabendazole, have not been effective
It is highly likely that phosphate is to blame; therefore, be sure to add scale inhibitors to the circulating water.
Has the circulating water developed resistance? Try a different type of chemical, such as solid active bromine disinfectant.
It is highly likely that methylotrophs have arisen; methylotrophs are a type of bacterium that is obligately methylotrophic rather than methanotrophic. Methanol can be used to produce single-cell protein (SCP) on a large scale, and it serves as a carbon source and energy source for the strains. It is recommended to use one type of fungicide: tributyl tetradecylphosphonium chloride, commercially known as B-350.
Try using bleach? Or bromine-based fungicides.
