Standard specifications for petroleum and natural gas engineering drawing clearly state in clause 2.1.2 that the size of an extended format is obtained by multiplying the shorter side of the basic format by an integer. For example, the size of A2 paper is 594x420; for the extended version of A2, it is 594+420=1014. 1014x420. The problem is that we usually need to use such a long length; is it possible to use half, a quarter, or even an eighth of that length? Are there any regulations regarding this? How do you usually extend drawings?
Ah, it turns out that the standard I was referring to was outdated – SY/t0003-2012. It contains specific regulations regarding elongation; for drawings of type 0 and 1, the length can be increased by one-fourth of the length of their long side, while for drawings of types 2 and 3, the length can be increased by one-half of the length of their long side. The extended increment for A0, A2, and A4 is one-eighth of the length of the long side of A0； The extended increment for A1 and A3 is one-quarter of the short side length of A0
