How to cut solid asphalt into small pieces, or transfer melted asphalt into a flask – since the asphalt samples sent by customers are in solid form inside large barrels, and it is necessary to obtain small pieces for analysis. But when using a knife to scrape, it only sticks to the knife and can’t be removed. Attempts were made to heat the barrel using an oil bath to melt it, but it could only be done in a high-temperature environment; as soon as it was removed, it solidified again and could not be transferred into a round-bottomed distillation flask. Melt the solid asphalt and pour it onto a metal plate to cool; the thickness should remain constant, that is, it should be made into thin sheets. This allows the metal plate to be cut into the desired small pieces.

The iron plates and blades only need to avoid contaminating the asphalt raw materials. You can give it a try; I haven’t verified it.
Try using a drill; a diamond bit is the best option,,, or try using a hole-puncher
Search for a mechanical water diamond drilling machine and see if the drill bit attached to it can be used with other electric drills
Make a lump, then melt it at high temperature and drop it into water – isn’t that just drop by drop? Then put it into a flask; that should work, right?
