In the summer, temperatures in many places now reach 30 degrees, and working on construction sites is especially strenuous due to the heat; it’s necessary to use air conditioning. But have you noticed that the temperature indicator light often flashes continuously? After some investigation, I found that the problem lies with the engine. So here are three tips to help keep your engine running properly. The first step is to check the temperature of the water supply pipes and the drain pipes. When the engine temperature gets too high, I first need to check what the cause is. Usually, I check the temperatures of the supply pipe and the drain pipe; if there is a significant difference in their temperatures, it can be concluded that the thermostat is faulty. If the temperatures of the water supply and drainage pipes are roughly the same, there may be air in the cooling system. The solution is to run the engine at high speed and gently turn the radiator cap open until gas starts to come out; at that point, some of the cooling water will flow out along with the gas. After repeating this process several times, a significant difference in temperature between the upper and lower coolant pipes will be noticeable. Once the air is removed, the problem is resolved. The second trick is to regularly clean up the stolen goods. This is very important; if there’s a lot of ash accumulated on the engine, it will definitely affect heat dissipation. Therefore, it’s necessary to keep cleaning it regularly. I usually use compressed air to blow out the radiator grills, and then rinse them with water. The effect is good. I clean it regularly whenever summer comes; the engine runs at top speed, it doesn’t break down easily, and it works fast. The final trick is to lower the oil temperature first and then the coolant temperature – something that many people overlook. Oil temperature is one of the main factors affecting oil pressure, and lowering the temperature first has a significant impact on the establishment of oil pressure in the engine’s main shaft passages. I always start by lowering the oil temperature before reducing the coolant temperature, using a method of reducing load and operating at low speeds; this helps to reduce the heat generated by the engine as well as slow down the rate at which the water temperature rises.
