I would like to ask: since our PSA system uses a ten-tower process, how is the time for program switching determined? What issues need to be taken into consideration during the initial purging and startup phases?
For purging, it is necessary to start with the equipment before moving on to the pipelines, and with the main lines before the branch lines. During operation, various process parameters must be strictly controlled to ensure that there is no overheating, no overpressure, no excessive liquid level, and no overload
All of this is known; what’s uncertain is the timing. Regarding purging, since the time available is limited, is there any good way to achieve a thorough purge without having to remove the valves?
The switching times are designed by the manufacturer; what PSA can be adjusted is the adsorption time. Regarding purging, we can only do our best, as failing to clean it thoroughly will cause **problems later on**.
The flushing time should be as long as possible; the number of pressure equalization cycles is determined based on the adsorption pressure. Switching between valve states is carried out using the corresponding table. As mentioned by those who are more experienced, when starting up the system, be careful not to increase the pressure too quickly, and monitor the adsorption pressure curve to detect any valve leaks.

We here also have ten towers, and construction has only just started. Regarding the question raised by the poster, I would like to say this: during the purging phase, there are many valves and frequent disassemblies and reassemblies, which makes many people think it’s a hassle – but this mindset is completely unacceptable. During purging, the blasting method can be used more often; for the parts where control valves need to be removed, short pipes can be used for connection, followed by repeated blasting. After purging is complete, inspections must be carried out, step by step, ensuring that everything is checked thoroughly. Even so, it’s still difficult to guarantee that no problems will arise. Since construction started here, there have been two instances of disruptions in the PSA system; in one serious case, five towers malfunctioned at the same time, which really shocked me. It took some time to identify the causes after analysis, and I still feel uneasy when I think about it
