I’m a beginner. When creating instrument statistics tables, I’m not sure which instruments require knowledge of the diameter of the process pipelines. Could someone please give me some guidance?
In the instrument specification sheet provided in the design, the outer diameter of the pipeline must be specified for the orifice plate! Inner diameter; generally, there is no reduction in this dimension ; Flowmeters also require the inner and outer diameters of the pipeline, but a reduction in diameter is allowed when selecting the meter. The same is true for control valves. The nominal diameter of the pipeline can be found in the thermometer specification sheet (it is indicated in the pipeline number column for the testing location). The transmitter is no longer needed.
For temperature, the insertion depth of the probe needs to be taken into account; for flow rate, the flow velocity is relevant, and both of these are related to the diameter of the pipe. As for valves, they are directly connected to the pipe diameter, so the pipe diameter is the most important parameter. Regarding pressure, it depends on the load-bearing capacity of the equipment, and it has nothing to do with size; therefore, the pipe diameter can be ignored. My personal understanding, for reference only....
