In sulfuric acid production, the blockage in the flue gas duct at the outlet of the roasting furnace is mainly composed of iron oxide (iron(III) oxide + iron(IV) oxide) as well as mineral dust. During the sample preparation for analysis after sampling the blockage, it was found that the sample did not dissolve completely (using the salt-acid method). After adding *ao acid, the degree of dissolution increased, but complete dissolution still was not achieved. The analysis results are as follows: iron 49.13%, sulfur 0.76%, lead 0.54%, zinc 0.47%. The composition of the slag from a normal roasting furnace is: iron ~60%, sulfur ~0.2%; lead and zinc were not analyzed; the reason for this is unknown. Is there a way to completely dissolve the sample?
This post was last edited by qugd on 2015-9-8 11:27. Lead sulfide is insoluble in salts, acids, and sulfuric acid, but it can dissolve in *ao acid. One can try using a pressurized dissolution tank made of polytetrafluoroethylene for high-temperature dissolution; this method is relatively reliable, and strong acids as well as oxidizing agents can be used. This method is called pressure dissolution; there are specialized products available for its use, and they can be found at places that sell reagents or glassware.
