Can a steam trap really prevent backflow? What type of check valve can prevent backflow?
Can a check valve really prevent backflow?................
A steam trap is not a check valve; if there are dedicated check valves available, why not use them?
I can’t think of any checkable hydrostatic regulator; bimetallic, thermodynamic, or float-type ones probably won’t work.
There should be check-type steam traps, but I’ve never seen them. Generally, in steam pipelines that are heated by steam, a check valve needs to be installed in front of the steam trap, and it has to be a check valve that can open horizontally.
A steam trap operates only when there is a pressure difference between the front and back; without such a pressure difference, it cannot drain water. Although there are many types, water must be removed by means of a pressure difference in all cases
What is the purpose of a check valve in preventing backflow? A steam trap can, to a certain extent, prevent condensed water from flowing back into the steam pipes; however, if the back pressure is too high, the steam trap is no longer able to remove the water.
Some check valves come equipped with their own reverse valves to prevent backflow during condensate recovery
