Our high-pressure air coolers have steam tracing coils – is that just to prevent freezing and condensation? Are there any other functions?
It’s definitely not for preventing freezing; if it could freeze, then what’s the point of using air cooling?; I really haven’t seen air cooling with heat tracing before
It prevents the possibility of condensate becoming supercooled and freezing at the bottom of the air-cooled condenser; moreover, it allows air and non-condensable gases to be discharged more smoothly, avoiding the formation of dead zones that could become cold spots and cause the condensed water to freeze, thereby cracking the finned tubes.
We have both high-pressure air cooling and low-pressure air cooling. I don’t understand why either; could any technician help explain this? ?
