The new type of silica can replace imported silica. It differs from traditional vapor-phase silica and represents a high-end silica product manufactured using proprietary intellectual property. The traditional vapor-phase method generally involves silicon tetrachloride, oxygen (or air), and hydrogen, which react at high temperatures. As a result, these silica particles are extremely fine and form an aerosol with the gas, making them difficult to capture. Therefore, they must first be aggregated into larger particles in an agglomerator, then collected using a cyclone separator, and subsequently sent to a deacidification furnace. The gaseous silica is washed with nitrogen-containing air until its pH value reaches 4–6, at which point it becomes a finished product. This type of silica is essentially composed of many extremely fine nanoparticles of silicon dioxide aggregated together to form silica in the micron or sub-nanometer range. Its surface contains numerous chemical bonds, and many additives are required to modify it; the processing requirements are high and complex, which results in high costs and expensive prices. The new type of silica produced by Guanqi is modified using a special production method. This silica is composed of monodisperse particles, unlike the imported silica which is agglomerated. The advantage of monodisperse particles is that they achieve true monomer dispersion, thereby maximizing the nanoeffects of nano-silica. Moreover, compared with imported silica, it is easier to disperse and add, and the nanoeffect is more pronounced; the product properties of silicon dioxide are thus well demonstrated (compared to gas-phase silica of the same type). It also overcomes the disadvantages of vapor-phase silica such as post-thickening, difficulty in dispersion, and dust generation. In general, Corning White silica can prevent sedimentation, thicken the mixture appropriately without causing subsequent thickening; it does not affect the handling properties of the mixture while still enhancing its sagging tendency to some extent. It is possible to incorporate high levels of this substance to meet the customer’s requirements. The most important advantage is that it is cheaper than imported silica, and can completely replace imported silica.
