What types of mechanical pumps require seal oil?

The manager asked me which types of pumps in the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit require seal oil. My answer was that high-temperature pumps, as well as those that transport a medium whose properties are similar to those of the seal oil or that are heavier than the seal oil, need to have seal oil added； I’m not sure if what I said is correct; please let me know. Is there any standard or regulation regarding this?
