Since the quench cooler broke down in 2004, ours has not been put into use again, and the quench tower has also not become clogged since then. This has a lot to do with the operator’s habits and level of proficiency.
Quenching is used in hydrogenation reduction units, right! Previously, we used hydrogenation to reduce sulfur dioxide to hydrogen sulfide, and then carried out oxygen-deficient combustion to produce sulfur. The cold water filter also tended to get clogged frequently, so the filter elements had to be washed often; later, domestic ones were used, but I can’t remember the specifics

The AMIAD imported from Israel is used by us in rich amine solutions; it features automatic backwashing. It has not yet been applied to quench water – are there any relevant application results available?
The Israeli Amiad filters used in the emergency cooling water filters at the previous facility worked fairly well; during the two maintenance checks, no significant corrosion of the filter elements was observed. As for the rapid cooling water pipeline, carbon steel was used initially, and corrosion-induced perforations occurred. The quench water filter has three cleaning modes: fixed pressure difference, timed, and manual forced cleaning. In the fixed pressure difference cleaning mode, operation remains normal throughout; the hydrogenation reactor is supplied with sufficient hydrogen, and the quench water is replaced regularly, so blockages should be under control.
We use AMIAD filters on our quench water line; they have been in use for 7 years now and are still performing well.
