The major maintenance at our factory is coming to an end. While checking the accumulators before the oil is circulated again, it was found that one of them had low pressure. When trying to replenish the pressure, one of the technicians strongly advised that it would be better to do this once there is oil around the air bag during the oil circulation process. Since the machine has been shut down for over half a month, all the oil has returned to the tank; as a result, there is a lack of liquid inside. Replenishing the pressure forcefully can harm the lifespan of the air bag and may cause it to get damaged. I’m very confused and would like to ask how everyone usually handles this, especially what the reason behind it is It seems like there’s oil around when the system is in operation; the pressure charging might not be accurate. The pressure should reflect the system’s oil pressure, and it shouldn’t have much to do with the airbags. Or maybe it’s sufficient as long as there’s oil around the airbags. After servicing the unit, check the accumulator pressure; if it is low, top it up – this has always been the procedure; I’ve never heard that not charging the air tank is bad for the airbags. As you said, if there is already pressure in the pipeline, and then nitrogen is added to increase the pressure, this affects the accuracy of the nitrogen pressure reading. This is my personal opinion.
Online working accumulators can be inflated to restore pressure without affecting the normal operation of the equipment

The requirement for charging the accumulator in the unit’s oil system is to open the inlet valve of the accumulator after the oil has been circulated; fill it with approximately 1/10 of the accumulator’s capacity, then close the shut-off valve, and finally charge the accumulator. This approach provides some protection for the accumulator’s bladder.
After the oil system is shut down, check the accumulator pressure; it should normally be maintained at 60-70% of the supply oil pressure, which is what I do.
If it is operating online and the accumulator already has the required oil pressure, how can the pressure be increased? How much and when should it be replenished? If the isolation accumulator is isolated, how can the pressure already present inside it be released?

The accumulator should be equipped with a sight glass featuring an oil level gauge, as well as a filling valve; if the oil level exceeds the specified limit, the filling valve can be used to lower the oil level in the accumulator back to the normal range.
