Seeking advice from fellow users: What is the overall heat transfer coefficient of glass-lined reactors, and how can it be determined? Or how can one find the thermal conductivity of glass-lined steel? I would appreciate your advice. Thank you

Personal opinion: A value of 100–300 W/(m2·℃) is generally appropriate; this range can be used as an estimate depending on the properties of the material. Those with pilot-scale testing facilities can use those results as a reference. Process design manuals do not provide recommended values for reactors, so I usually refer to those for heat exchangers.

:I think you should find a professional heat exchanger manufacturer to do the calculations properly. This overall heat transfer coefficient is related to many factors such as the properties of the material itself, the structure of the reactor, the mixing conditions within the reactor, the method of heating, and the flow rate of the heating fluid. Depending on the values given, whether it’s 100 or 300 W/(m2·°C), the error in the calculations can be quite large.
This value is also merely a conservative estimate, an arbitrary figure that isn’t suitable for official use; heating has not been studied in this context.
