I work in piping. Are there anyone who has experience with both? Could you explain the differences between the work involved in each?
It’s not clear what the difference between the two is. I understand they are all piping engineers.
Is this related to the industry? As I understand it, a Pipeline refers to the design of long-distance submarine pipelines; such pipelines are designed, constructed, and built in accordance with DNV-OS-F101, and the factors taken into consideration are different from those for process pipelines. Even for process pipelines, there are still some differences between the chemical industry and the shipbuilding industry, right?
A pipeline refers to a long-distance transmission line for oil and gas; the standards ASME B31.4/ASME B31.8 can be referenced for such lines. Piping, on the other hand, refers to the lines within a plant or facility – that is, the ordinary process pipelines – and the standard ASME B31.3 can be used as a reference for them. Taking oil and gas processing as an example, the boundary point between the two types of lines is indicated on the flow diagrams.
Pipeline refers to the overall planning of pipeline routes, such as those for transporting oil and gas from wells, while piping denotes the pipelines within a chemical plant, for example
