From September 24 to 26, the 14th International Conference on Pressure Vessel Technology, organized by the Pressure Vessel Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the ICPVT-AORC, and hosted by East China University of Science and Technology, Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, Nanjing University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, among other institutions, was held in Shanghai. More than 500 representatives from 18 countries attended the conference. Chen Gang, member of the International Council on Pressure Vessels and honorary president of the Chinese Society for Pressure Vessels, as well as deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; Wu Jianrong, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai People’s Government; Song Jihong, director of the Bureau of Special Equipment Safety Supervision under the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; Huang Xiaolu, director of the Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision; Lin Shuqing, president of the China Academy of Special Equipment Inspection; and Chen Xuedong, president of the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, among others, attended this conference. **Chen Gang, Deputy Director-General of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony. He noted that as a major country in the manufacturing and use of pressure vessels, China has always attached great importance to and promoted the development of technology related to such vessels, actively participating in various international exchanges and collaborations. As a result, China’s capabilities in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, as well as in testing, research, inspection, and the implementation of complete engineering solutions, have been significantly improved, and the quality of these vessels as well as their safety in use have seen steady improvements. Currently, China is making every effort to advance \"Made in China 2025\" in order to transform itself from a major manufacturing country into a strong one. He hopes that the vast number of scientific and technical professionals in China will seize this opportunity to further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation. At the same time, he also hopes that experts and scholars from abroad will offer their insights to support the development of pressure vessel technology in China, working together to advance this field. During the conference, Deputy Director General Chen Gang also met with some representatives and guests from the Asia-Oceania Regional Committee (AORC), the Europe-Africa Regional Committee (EARC), and the Americas Regional Committee (AmRC) of the International Council on Pressure Vessels. He expressed his gratitude for their strong support for this conference and discussed the future development of ICPVT with them. This conference featured 49 parallel sessions, with 18 invited presentations by experts from home and abroad, which addressed topics such as pressure vessel design and analysis, materials and manufacturing, engineering failure analysis, suitability assessment, nuclear power plant pressure vessels, non-destructive testing, standards and codes, as well as risk assessment and management. At the same time, the conference also featured forums on “Future Opportunities in China” and “Educating Future Engineers”, during which discussions were held on market opportunities for Chinese pressure vessels in the petrochemical, coal chemical, and nuclear power sectors, the entry of foreign companies into the Chinese market, the expansion of domestic companies overseas, and the training of outstanding engineers for the future.
