Regarding the differentiation of Bentley probes, how can one tell at a glance which Bentley probe is used for measuring displacement? Which one is used to measure the rotational speed? Which one is used to measure vibration? It seems to be a 3300XL 8MM in every case; what does the p/n code at the end mean? Could you **explain it?** Thank you infinitely.
It is impossible to tell from the model, as probes of the same type can be used to measure both vibration displacement and rotational speed. It is only possible to determine which specific parameters are being measured from the installation location on site.
The first three displacements are along the axis; those forming two horns relative to the vertical axis represent vibrations, with two on each side; the single displacement is along the vertical axis itself, and the six consecutive vertical axes indicate the rotational speed. .

The 3300XL 8MM is an eddy current sensor system with a 8mm diameter; the 8mm refers to the diameter of the probe, while p/N denotes the model of the probe. The 8mm model can be used to measure the vibration and displacement of sliding bearing machinery, as well as the phase of keys and rotational speed; it is not possible to tell what measurement functions it has just by looking at its appearance
