The correct answer is C; aqua regia possesses strong oxidizing properties as well as excellent chelating capabilities, making it a good solvent for dissolving precious metals and certain metal sulfides. Another mixture of 3 parts nitric acid and 1 part hydrochloric acid is called aqua regia inverse; it is also a special solvent. I believe it is known as Leford’s aqua regia, and it possesses a stronger oxidizing power than regular aqua regia, allowing it to dissolve certain sulfides and elemental metals more easily.
