Sterilization issues in pretreatment of demineralized water

Our plant has a desalinated water production capacity of 220 M3/h. However, at present, due to the addition of sodium hypochlorite, it is not possible to detect any residual chlorine in either the ultrafiltration effluent or the RO feed water; in fact, there is almost no residual chlorine even before the water reaches the multi-media filter. Sodium hypochlorite continues to be added, with the dosage now being five times higher than before, yet still no residual chlorine is detected. We seek advice from those with more experience
