Are there any standards for cleaning heat exchangers?

After being in use for a period of time, heat exchangers can develop problems such as scaling or blockages; it is therefore very necessary to clean them regularly. I was wondering what is generally used for cleaning, and what are the relevant standards or guidelines
If scaling occurs, there are specialized cleaning companies available; on the material side, high-pressure water washing is generally used, while chemical cleaning is employed on the circulating water side. They have standard procedures for this. If the equipment isn’t disassembled, the only way to assess its heat exchange efficiency after it’s put back into use is by testing it
For plate exchangers that cannot be disassembled, one can only assess their performance based on actual use
Generally, there are no specific standards; for different heat exchangers, the cleaning method should be chosen based on factors such as the application scenario and the fluids used, with the aim of minimizing damage to the heat exchanger itself.
