It was during the May Day holiday in 2000; I was in my second year of college at that time. The four guys in my dormitory decided to go to Huashan Mountain by bike. On the evening of April 29, four worn-out bicycles were rented, and at 6 a.m. on April 30, we set off on time with our backpacks and provisions. On my way by Huaqing Pool, I wanted to go inside and explore it, but after covering only 1/4 of the distance, I gave up for fear of not making it to Mount Hua by night. After passing Weinan, the road became increasingly difficult to navigate, as it was full of mountain roads – either uphill or downhill, sometimes with consecutive climbs and descents. Later, I simply rode faster on the downhill sections, used inertia to climb the uphill parts, and got off the bike to push it when I stopped. Upon entering Hua County, it is the season when strawberries are ripe; they can be eaten for just one yuan, and one can also go and pick fresh ones directly. After eating and drinking to satiety, one can continue on the journey. It took nearly 12 hours to cover the 120-kilometer distance, and we arrived at the foot of Huashan Mountain around 5:30 in the afternoon. People are completely exhausted. After having a hearty meal and getting some good rest, we started climbing at 10 p.m. I won’t go into detail about the difficulties of mountain climbing; those who have never attempted to climb Huashan Mountain can hardly imagine just how challenging it is. Places such as Qianchi Zhuang, Baichi Gorge, Laojun Ligou, Tianli, and Yunli really require one to use both hands and feet to climb over them. I arrived at Dongfeng at 3 a.m.; there were still about 2 hours left until sunrise. It was cold and I was tired, so I rented a cotton coat, found a sheltered spot, and fell asleep. In my sleep, I don’t know who shouted something; in a daze, I got up and rushed to the viewing platform. It was the first time in my life that I witnessed the magnificent sight of sunrise. I’ve read various descriptions of sunrises, but my writing skills are limited, so I won’t try to describe it here. After watching the sunrise, we began to explore the various attractions on the mountain. The Long Sky Walk was closed before we arrived because a tourist fainted there, which nearly led to a fall off the cliff; it remains a great regret in my life to this day. I basically visited all the other attractions as well, and in the end I was completely exhausted; looking at the photos from that time now, my appearance seems rather pitiful. We started descending the mountain in the afternoon; there were so many people that I was pushed forward without even having to take steps myself. I was so tired that I could fall asleep even while standing. After going through countless hardships, we finally reached the foot of the mountain around 7 p.m. By the time our feet touched solid ground, we were unable to walk normally; for quite some time, we still moved in the same manner as when going down the mountain. With not much money and no energy or strength left to ride back to Xi’an, I ended up sending the bicycle on top of the bus as part of my way back to Xi’an. We rested in the car for about two hours, and it was nearly 10 p.m. when we arrived at the school. After eating a bowl of hot noodles with minced pork and two meat buns, along with two bottles of beer each, we returned to the dormitory. We then played poker all night long, not going to bed until dawn; we slept non-stop from then until the next morning, getting up only to use the bathroom or eat. One should go wild in their youth; thinking about it now, it seems crazy. If this happened today, it’s likely to result in deaths!
I’m most envious of those who go on long-distance cycling trips. . . My high school homeroom teacher kept encouraging me to go on a long-distance trip. . Then last year, in July or August, we finally managed to do it – riding to Juyongguan and coming back. . About 100KM. . . I originally planned to ride all the way to Badaling. . As a result, someone got cramps halfway and we came back. . .
At that time, 1 yuan was still considered a pretty valuable amount. I went to the wildlife park in Dalian with a few classmates, climbing down from the building in the early morning. At that time, the animals were all in cages; we climbed over the mountains to get in, evading ticket checks. Later, some of the animals were released back into the wild; since there was no place to dig, they didn’t go there.
We once had an experience of group ticket fraud; there were 40 people in our class, and the cost of tickets was around 40 each. Two of us were caught, and each of them was fined 80.
A stem that has cramps is quite unfortunate indeed. However, cycling is good for the body
Full of confidence, I headed straight for Badaling! Then someone got cramps and immediately lost motivation. . . Take a break, have a meal, and then head back. . .
Once, while riding bicycles with a classmate, after riding for a while he started to have stomach pain and we stopped.
There was this guy who, after donating blood in the morning, went out riding a bike with me at noon. . An old ox. . .
There are also things related to blood tests. There are also gifts. Some students received many free gifts, but the quality was average
Don’t you have a blood donation certificate? My roommates used to have several copies each
I also had a classmate in college who was like an old ox – usually nothing went wrong no matter how much he played. But one time, after donating blood in the morning, he played basketball in the afternoon and started bleeding from his nose non-stop; he was rushed to the medical office.
