For migrant workers coming to Xiamen, how much salary is sufficient? Let’s do some calculations; as someone who isn’t an expert in this area, I’ll try to figure out how much money is needed to survive. First of all, the rent for accommodation, along with costs for internet, electricity, and water, would be around 1,000 yuan per person, to be conservative. 1000 yuan for meals, plus 1500 yuan for fruit. For boys who are more well-behaved, this is considered quite conservative. 1500 for cigarettes, phone bills, bus fares, plus regular taxi rides. 300 yuan for clothes and shoes; let’s consider 300 per month. 300 yuan; let’s split it evenly, 100 yuan for each parent at least. 100 yuan for spending on holidays and friend gatherings per month. 200 yuan; for taking medicine when sick, that’s 50 per month on average. 50 yuan – give a red envelope to a friend; let’s split 50 yuan per month. 50 yuan; if social insurance and housing fund can be deducted from the salary, a conservative estimate would be 300 yuan. 300 yuan. If there’s also a boyfriend/girlfriend, the expenses would increase by at least 500 yuan per month. 500 yuan
Is the red envelope cost only 50 per month? Only 600 yuan a year? That’s not even enough for what I deliver on average in a month! There are other issues as well that make this unreasonable; therefore, this budget is not feasible!
