Dear experts, the hydrogenation catalyst in our workshop is now showing a red color; the degree of hydrogenation is low, which results in a bright red hue. We would appreciate it if you could offer some advice. Current reaction conditions: reactor pressure of 6.5 MPa, reactor inlet temperature of 350 degrees, with a temperature increase of 34–40 degrees
Are all the conditions for normal operation met? Has there been any change in the raw materials?
It’s likely that the hydrogenation depth is insufficient; refer to the temperature rise in the reactor.
What is the quality of the diesel product? If it’s not due to the impact of reaction depth or changes in the properties of the raw materials, consider the possibility of internal leakage in the heat exchanger.
The temperature for accelerating the combustion process is too high; check the sulfur content to determine whether there is a leak in the heat exchanger
The reaction depth has reached the limit specified in the device’s design. The sulfur content in the refined fuel is very low, which rules out the possibility of leaks inside the heat exchanger. The sample taken at the reactor outlet is also red in color
You can increase the reaction depth! 1. Increase the amount of fresh hydrogen and raise its concentration. 2. Raise the hydrogen content in the recycled hydrogen. 3. Increase the reaction pressure and inlet temperature. 4. Reduce the space velocity. 5. The catalyst’s activity may have decreased; replace the catalyst. If there is an internal leak in the heat exchanger, you should be able to determine it yourselves. I think the catalyst’s activity isn’t sufficient, or it might be due to hydrogen; you can make appropriate adjustments
