A large number of manual valves are used in steam systems; for example, at the boiler outlet, on the steam distribution cylinders, at the inlet of equipment, before and after pressure reducing valves, in the bypass circuits of steam traps, and for sewage discharge in steam pipes – manual valves are employed in all these applications. When considering manual valves in steam systems, factors such as operating temperature and pressure, material, flow characteristics, sealing performance, and ease of operation are generally taken into account. For steam pipes with a diameter of less than 200 mm, bellows-sealed globe valves and ball valves are preferred; for steam pipes with a diameter greater than 250 mm, elastic gate valves or double-eccentric hard-sealed butterfly valves are recommended.
