In waste gas treatment, the pressure gauges installed on the activated carbon adsorption units and spray towers are not connected to electricity. So what is the purpose of these pressure gauges? Can the replacement of activated carbon and the cleaning of the spray filler be determined based on the values shown by the differential pressure gauge?
The replacement of activated carbon and fillers is definitely not related to this differential pressure gauge; the differential pressure gauge is used to measure pressure differences, and such differences arise from the resistance posed by the activated carbon and fillers. This is related to the amount and way in which these materials are packed, and it is possible to use the differential pressure to determine whether the equipment design meets the requirements of the process design~
Furthermore, generally speaking, a gas demister is also installed inside the vapor outlet at the top of the scrubber tower, to prevent air currents from carrying liquid droplets out of the tower and disrupting the proper operation of downstream processes. Demisters include traditional mesh-type simple demisters and fan-blade type high-efficiency demisters. The former uses mesh openings for interception-based demisting, but it is easily clogged by particulates and gels, which blocks the flow channels and renders it ineffective at removing foam; such blockages also cause a rapid increase in pressure difference. Thus, the differential pressure gauge of the scrubber tower is also used to determine whether the demister is clogged.
