I don’t quite understand what the original poster is saying; generally, people focus on the excessive amount of polymerization inhibitors in the recycled monomers, with very few cases where there’s an excess of initiators
There is a small amount of unreacted initiator radicals in the recycled monomer; so what effect will it have on the dispersant in the system after it is added?
The effect of initiators and dispersants is minimal, or non-existent; when preparing the initiator, we add a certain amount of dispersant to serve as a glue-stabilizing agent.
But the residual initiator radicals will graft polymerize with the ester groups of the dispersant, consuming some of the dispersant and having a certain impact on the reaction system – isn’t that something to take into account?
If the recycled VCM contains residual initiator radicals, they will disrupt the dispersion system, resulting in the formation of particulate material. 1. You might try reducing the initiator a bit. 2. Add more terminator. 3. It’s also possible that the amount of system inhibitor added is insufficient. Consider how to handle it based on the actual situation. It’s happened here too – granular material was produced.
Have you changed the terminator over there? This situation just appeared!

Our company uses three types of terminators: Changzhou Yulong, Jiangsu Changfeng, and Ningxia Mingchuan; we switch between them, but granular material is not produced after making the change. How can one determine whether the recycled VC contains a high amount of residual free radicals?
